Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – MUSC Health – Florence, SC

MUSC Health – Florence Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for its Neurological Surgery practice located in Florence, SC. The ideal candidate will be interested in hospital- and office-based support, preparing discharges, pre- and post-op patient care, and providing support to the Neurosurgeon in all aspects of care. Call coverage will be required via phone and in person, as appropriate, in alignment with the physician’s call schedule. Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in inpatient, outpatient, operating room, and procedure settings as part of the neurosurgery team. Take comprehensive history and perform physical examinations; evaluate and treat based on tests and guidelines. Initiate referrals and consult with attending or collaborating physicians as needed. Document and bill for direct care provided; participate in quality/performance improvement activities and research. Participate in accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities; engage in professional development and continuing education. Potential to precept students and new team members; maintain required licenses/certifications. First or second assistant in the operating room and assist with monitoring devices when applicable. Manage discharge planning, follow-up, and patient education; coordinate with referring or primary care physicians. Support pre-and post-operative education for patients and families; communicate treatment plans clearly. Qualifications

Required Minimum Training And Experience:

Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current licensure or eligibility as an APRN. APRN License Type/Certification:

FNP (Family NP) or equivalent; RNFA certification required upon hire to first assist in the operating room. Preferred Training And Experience:

AGACNP/ACNP or related adult-gerontology acute care certification; RNFA certification required upon hire to first assist in the operating room; prior neuro-surgery or orthopedic spine experience preferred. Experience:

Previous neuro-surgery, orthopedic spine, or surgical experience. Degree of Supervision:

APP will be assigned a primary supervising/collaborating physician employed by MUSC and will report to this physician. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

BLS, ACLS; DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day of employment. Job Details

Hours per week:

40 Scheduled Work Hours/Shift:

Monday–Friday; hours vary with physician’s schedule. Typical shift is 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.; APP may have first-call responsibilities and can be compensated for call coverage beyond the minimum. Patient Population Focus:
