The City of Greenville Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer Trainee. This role involves attending an approved Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) academy, which lasts approximately five months and includes intensive physical and educational training. Upon successful completion and certification, graduates will become certified North Carolina Police Officers with the City of Greenville. POPAT
This is a continuous recruitment process and may close without notice. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; and
No prior experience required.
Additional requirements include:
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Must be at least 20 years old by June 1, 2026.
Must possess good moral character with no disqualifying criminal convictions.
Must undergo a comprehensive background check, including polygraph, psychological, medical, and drug screening.
Must pass a physical agility test and oral interview.
Must be available to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must meet other employment requirements set by the City of Greenville.
Note: The selection process typically takes 3 to 4 months. Qualified applicants who do not succeed initially may reapply for other city positions.
