Overview
As our Intensive Behavioral Intervention Specialist, you serve as a meaningful support for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), and other behavioral challenges. Your work empowers families, strengthens community inclusion, and promotes meaningful behavioral change through evidence-based strategies. You will provide direct coaching to parents and caregivers, especially those new to behavioral support, offer practical strategies for managing challenging behaviors at home and in the community, and connect families to resources, services, and support networks. Location:
Lawrence, MA with travel within the Merrimack Valley, Lowell, Northshore, Central Middlesex and Metro North for home visits is a requirement. Schedule:
Monday – Friday varied hours to meet the needs of the families we serve. You will need to work two evenings per week. This is not a Fee-for-Service position and includes time for office work and documentation. Compensation:
This is a 40-hour, non-exempt full-time position. The pay range is $24.75 – 28.85 per hour. This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire. Benefits

Collaborate closely with families to create a personalized Family Support Plan that highlights social, educational, and recreational opportunities tailored to the child or adolescent’s needs. You’ll help identify and coordinate insurance-based referrals - such as ABA therapy and mental health services - along with state and federal benefits, community programs, and other resources to support each child’s sense of inclusion and belonging. Collaborate with Waystone team members, consultants, and external providers - including DDS staff - to support the successful implementation of each Family Support Plan. Develop, implement, and collect data on in-home behavioral plans using ABA and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) methodology. Partner with the child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to strengthen the home-school connection. Support families in understanding and applying IEP strategies, interventions, and accommodations to reinforce learning and behavioral goals across settings. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Child Development or related field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Associate’s degree or High School diploma with 5 years’ experience in Human Services, case management, social work or related field. Direct experience with intensive case management, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), special education services, Positive Behavior Support (PBS), trauma-informed service delivery, and/or behavioral intervention preferred. Extensive knowledge of local community services, programs, and resources for children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder and their families. Passion for working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds and families experiencing social and economic challenges, especially those facing social and economic challenges such as substance use disorder or housing instability. Strong written and verbal communication skills with focus on positive outcomes. Proficient in computer applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and virtual platforms. Candidates must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to create and implement the family support plan, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals. Valid driver’s license in good standing with a minimum of 1 year driving experience.
