Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator role at Bass Pro Shops. Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Distribution EHS Coordinator to support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at our distribution center. Reports to the Distribution Safety Manager. Ideal for a recent college graduate with appropriate training and experience. The Distribution Safety Coordinator will assist in developing, implementing, and managing safety programs to ensure a safe working environment and regulatory compliance. This role will work the 2nd shift. Responsibilities
Safety Management: Develop, implement, and manage programs that improve the safety of all employees and ensure regulatory compliance; act as a liaison with Local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies on safety and environmental matters; advise on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions; implement training for employees on worksite safety practices; maintain safety files and records; perform safety surveys and inspections. Incident Management: Conduct post-accident investigations, prepare reports identifying root causes and hazards; respond to and manage incidents; report incidents in the safety management system. Champion Safety: Promote a safe, incident-free workplace; lead safety training and Safety Committee meetings; perform regular inspections (weekly, monthly, yearly) including life safety systems, equipment, and hazardous areas. Compliance & Record Keeping: Stay up to date with local, state, and federal safety regulations; maintain OSHA 300 Log, Worker’s Compensation Logs, and required training; manage safety documentation. Continuous Improvement: Lead incident investigations and corrective actions; conduct Job Hazard Analysis; assess health hazards; review safety programs for effectiveness; support site leadership on EHS issues. Program Coordination: Oversee workers\' compensation, safety audits, and emergency preparedness; partner with shift managers to address hazards and safety concerns; conduct Safety Committee meetings; participate in onboarding to raise safety awareness; manage hazardous spill containment and response; coordinate and manage PPE assessments; conduct industrial hygiene studies and readings; administer data in safety/equipment systems. Other: ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. Qualifications
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA regulations, and related standards. Preferred Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, or other safety-related certifications. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Frequent: Develop and manage safety programs; conduct safety training and Safety Committee meetings; perform safety inspections; respond to incidents and report in safety system; maintain safety records and compliance logs. Infrequent: Conduct post-accident investigations; oversee workers\' compensation, audits, and emergency preparedness; conduct Job Hazard Analysis; partner with 3rd party contractors on EHS compliance; onboard new hires to increase safety awareness; conduct industrial hygiene studies and PPE assessments; address safety complaints and support site leadership. Independent Judgment
Performs tasks under general supervision with established procedures; makes recommendations to work procedures and practices; occasional independent judgment required to complete assignments. Benefits
