Business Development Manager-- Water Treatment

OPPORTUNITY This position manages existing Industrial Wastewater accounts, as well as drinking water treatment, utilities, and related water accounts. It combines account management and new business development, with approximately 20% of time servicing existing customers and nurturing relationships, and 80% developing new business in the greater Phoenix, AZ area. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and grow a sales territory focusing on business development and sales growth. Obtain new business by: Structuring programs that leverage Hydrite’s manufacturing, distribution, and financial strengths. Engaging corporate resources to create competitive advantages. Performance measures include new margins, volume at new accounts, and GM dollars of new business. Grow and protect existing business by: Constructing and executing an annual business plan with sales management support. Building relationships with decision-makers at key accounts. Developing Preferred Account Management Plans. Addressing competitive threats. Making personal visits and entertaining decision-makers when appropriate. Reviewing sales history data and reporting variances. Resolving customer service issues satisfactorily. Improve gross margins by: Identifying competitive situations and negotiating value-based responses. Using Price Change Notification System for improvements. Analyzing margin data and implementing price adjustments. Responding to low margin alerts and exception reports. Performance measures include changes in volume, margin, revenue, account retention, and new business. Survey plants and utilize tools to determine solutions and offer chemical programs. Manage time and territory effectively. Write chemical treatment proposals and service reports promptly. REPORTING STRUCTURE This role reports to the Sales Manager - Water. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION College education and prior sales experience preferred; technical or engineering degree preferred. 2-5 years of sales experience in water treatment/chemical industry required, including wastewater, boilers, and cooling towers. Ability to develop a business plan with management support. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and job-specific software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Attend meetings, work at a computer, and talk on the phone for extended periods. Travel to customer sites, including overnight stays as needed.
