A day in the life
Morning starts with a review of RFQs and drawings. You’ll clarify scope with Sales, identify missing details, and confirm assumptions. From there, you’ll: Study customer BOMs, prints, GD&T, process specifications, and material specs; pull any missing sub-drawings from our files. Collaborate with QA, Engineering, and Production to capture capability limits and call out exceptions that fall outside current processes. Build Google Drive quote packages and create time estimates using setup and machining formulas aligned to our workflow. Research historical performance in our ERP/CRM (Salesforce) to benchmark hours, lead times, and risks. Engage vendors for validated pricing and lead times on materials; coordinate with outside manufacturers for services or parts we don’t produce. Deliver accurate TVC, labor hours, and lead times to Sales—plus fast “ballpark” quotes when customer urgency demands it. What success looks like
On-time, well-supported quotes that reflect real capacity and constraints. Clear documentation of exceptions and complexity so Sales can set the proper labor rates. Continuously refined estimates based on lessons learned from production and past jobs. Schedule and location
Regular shift: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, at our Kings Mountain plant. This role is cross-trained to provide backup for Procurement when needed. You bring
Self-driven prioritization and the ability to deliver quotes with minimal oversight. Strong organization and leadership: manage time, documentation, and deadlines with precision. Relationship skills across admin and manufacturing teams; crisp verbal and written communication. Fluency reading drawings, blueprints, GD&T, process/material specs, and BOMs. Working CAD capability for quick sketches to support quotations. Practical machining knowledge: tolerances, manual and CNC processes, feeds/speeds, and efficient methods. Technical grounding in fluid film bearings, rotating equipment, and bearing manufacturing/repair methods. Toolset: Google Sheets (including formulas), Gmail, docs, virtual meetings, shared calendars; ERP/CRM (Salesforce). Physical comfort moving through the plant and yard, including climbing stairs to inventory/drawing storage and navigating tight areas. You’re proficient in
