Job Description
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions of a growing $10M label manufacturing company. This role ensures accuracy and integrity of financial data, provides strategic financial insight, and supports leadership in making informed business decisions. The Controller will lead day-to-day accounting operations, manage financial staff, and partner with operations to improve profitability and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Direct all accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles. Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including margin analysis, cost of goods sold, and operating expenses. Cost & Inventory Control Implement and oversee standard cost accounting for manufacturing operations. Analyze production variances, scrap, and material usage to improve margins. Partner with operations to maintain accurate inventory valuation and cycle counts. Compliance & Controls Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and audit requirements. Maintain strong internal controls and safeguard company assets. Oversee annual financial audits and act as primary contact with external auditors. Manage and mentor accounting/finance staff. Collaborate with executive team on strategic initiatives, growth planning, and capital investments. Provide financial insights to support pricing, new product launches, and customer profitability analysis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in manufacturing. Strong knowledge of manufacturing and cost accounting principles. Experience with ERP (NetSuite) /accounting systems (experience in manufacturing ERP a plus). Proven ability to manage a small finance team and work cross-functionally. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
