The Investment Associate will primarily support commercial real estate debt and equity originators and equity asset managers and will be involved in all aspects of the mortgage origination and equity acquisition process including underwriting, research, due diligence, negotiations, deal structuring, and closing. Financial modeling, investment analysis and preparation of internal investment memoranda are the core aspects of the job. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to develop a solid career in commercial real estate, work on large and complex transactions, and interact with many of the premier players in the industry. Responsibilities and Qualifications
The right candidate has useful experience/training, is interested in institutional quality commercial real estate and finance as a career, has strong analytical abilities, communicates clearly, can multi-task, works hard, is a self-starter, is outgoing and works cooperatively in a team environment. Skills And Qualities Strong analytical, quantitative and technical skills Effective written and verbal communications skills Clear thinker, creative yet thorough problem-solver, strong research skills Positive demeanor, outgoing personality who will work cooperatively with other team members The ability to work under time pressure, multi-task, and negotiate competing priorities Self-motivated, pro-active, sense of urgency, conscientious, takes pride in providing high quality work product Working knowledge of various commercial real estate asset classes including office buildings, shopping centers, multifamily properties, industrial buildings, and other specialty asset types. Understanding of various debt product including senior mortgages, mezzanine and subordinated loans, and preferred equity. Qualifications A business-related Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a strong academic record and with a strong preference for a concentration in Finance or Real Estate. The candidate should have two or more years of real estate investment/underwriting experience preferably working for an institutional investment company, commercial lender, brokerage company, appraisal firm, or related commercial real estate firm. Proficiency in Argus and advanced modeling skills in Microsoft Excel is required.
