Overview
Staff Accountant - Financial Reporting (Hybrid Remote) at Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York). VOA-Greater New York is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County, including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services support families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Responsibilities
Prepare standard journal entries for daily business transactions and the month-end close, including cost allocations. Adhere to the monthly general ledger close calendar to allow for appropriate review by a supervisor.
Analyze and reconcile various general ledger and sub-ledger transactions and account balances monthly, including bank reconciliations, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting and analysis and ad hoc reports.
Review, record, and reconcile company credit card activity.
Enter invoices for administrative and allocable expenditures into Microsoft Business Central. Ensure entries are accurately coded and supported for payment. Monitor accounts payable entries to ensure invoices are approved and payments are made timely and accurately.
Provide support for internal and external audit engagements.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of VOA–Greater New York policies and procedures to comply with regulations and safeguard agency assets.
Provide support on financial initiatives and projects, and perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and one year of relevant experience.
Knowledge of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and FASB standards is required.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize work and perform duties with a high level of accuracy.
Collaborative work style and excellent interpersonal skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel skills is required.
