Position Overview The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee accounting operations for a mid-to-large scale construction company specializing in asphalt and concrete. This role ensures financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and timely reporting, while supporting the Chief Financial Officer in strategic decision-making. The candidate will play a key role in managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll with emphasis on project cost accounting, equipment/asset tracking, to drive profitability and sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions. Manage job cost accounting, WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting. Develop and maintain budgetary controls; perform variance and profitability analyses. for asphalt paving and concrete construction projects. Track capital assets, equipment usage, depreciation, and other assigned duties. Manage subcontractor compliance (COIs, lien waivers, W-9s, and contracts). Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to review budgets, cost codes, and financial forecasts. Support bonding and insurance requirements through financial reporting. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. Oversee preparation of fuel tax, and payroll tax filings. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets. Leadership & Team Management Supervise and mentor accounting staff, (AP Administrator, Payroll Administrator) providing training and performance reviews. Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud. Partner with operations, estimating, and business development teams to improve financial outcomes. Assist executives with long-term strategic planning and financial modeling. Daily & Weekly Tasks Monitor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable aging and optimize vendor and subcontractor payment schedules. Review and approve vendor invoices, journal entries, and payroll. Conduct weekly project review meetings with project managers. Required Skills & Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA strongly preferred). Experience:

5+ years of accounting/finance management in

construction (asphalt/concrete preferred) . Strong knowledge of

construction accounting software

(e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Procore, CMIC, etc.). Proficiency in

job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition

methods. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines. Accounts Receivable:

Assist with managing accounts receivable, including generating invoices, processing payments, and tracking overdue accounts. Documentation:

Maintain organized and accurate financial records, including filing invoices, receipts, and other documentation. Expense Tracking:

Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring compliance with budgeting guidelines. Support:

Provide support to senior accounting staff with various tasks as needed, including preparing financial reports, researching transactions, and recording adjusting journal entries. Compliance:
