The Opportunity R&D Finance Manager – The role works out of our Plymouth location in the Electrophysiology Medical Device division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As a critical finance business advisor and partner for EP R&D leadership, you will provide sound business counsel, enable the strategic vision of the business unit, and advocate spending as an investment, not an expense. You will effectively balance business unit investment needs/ROI with division/corporate investment needs/ROI, interpret root causes, actively seek solutions, and bring the numbers to life through forecast accuracy and presentation of financial information to non‑financial audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate R&D RLBE process planning, maintain data collection templates, prepare and present RLBE summaries to BU leadership, and update HFM data models.

Update R&D monthly performance process, analyze results, and prepare summaries for BU leadership.

Quantify NPVs/ROIs for new products in development, work with marketing, operations, and PMO to quantify P&L impacts, and prepare slides for portfolio review meetings and gate reviews.

Coordinate R&D Strategic Planning Process, prepare and present OEM summaries, and update HFM data models.

Handle ad hoc financial requests from R&D, marketing, operations, and corporate leadership.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum 7 years of finance experience, preferably in R&D or life‑science finance.

Preferred Qualifications

15+ years of FP&A experience.

5+ years of management experience.

Master’s degree.

CPA certification.

Experience supporting R&D in the medical device or healthcare industry.

Compensation Base pay range: $97,300.00 – $194,700.00. Salary may vary by specific location.
