Revenue Tax Auditor Specialist

to join our

Field Audit Income Tax Division!

This position serves as the principal technical adviser to the field audit staff and will provide training and staff development serving as the “key contact” for the division related to technical tax matters. This is a promotional posting open only to current permanent classified employees of the Louisiana Department of Revenue. Qualifications

Seven years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics, or a Juris Doctorate, plus three years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law plus two years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing. Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Responsibilities

This role involves extensive legal tax research, analysis of nationwide tax reporting trends, and monitoring the latest tax planning strategies for tax avoidance or liability minimization. Monitor changes in tax legislation regulations, and compliance standards. It also includes researching information entities to meet regulatory requirements for bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and state agencies like the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office. Assists in the development of tax advisory memoranda, opinions, audit manuals, training guides, and reference tools. Additionally, this position performs analyses of multiple auditing techniques and calculations related to taxable transactions, both within and outside of Louisiana. This position will also analyze and compare information reported on filed Louisiana returns through summary reports and actual returns to identify specific audit candidates and significant issues. There is also the potential to conduct full scope and limited scope audits, both as a lead auditor and in collaboration with those in training. Work closely with audit leaders to identify training needs as they arise. Position‑Specific Details

Promotional or Detail to Special Duty, open only to current permanent classified employees of Louisiana Department of Revenue. Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected. Career Progression:

This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $27.86 hourly, $2,228.80 biweekly. The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Work Location:

This position will be domiciled at one of LDR’s six locations (Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, Alexandria, Monroe or Shreveport).
