What role you will play in our team
As the Carbon Credits Global Standards and Markets Advisor, you will help develop strategy and execute plans aligned with the Low Carbon Solutions (LCS) carbon credit business. You will analyze the state of the voluntary carbon market to focus engagement on policy and market mechanisms that can drive material impact. The VCM is evolving, making this role dynamic and fast-paced. What you will do
Deliver key quantitative and qualitative insights on the state of the voluntary carbon markets Leverage and synthesize external data and insights on market trends and regulatory and non-regulatory developments to inform strategy and decision-making Drive advocacy of high-quality criteria and use of voluntary carbon credits within regulatory and voluntary frameworks Apply and help shape ExxonMobil policy positions on voluntary carbon credits for consultations with global regulators, standard setters, and industry groups Expand demand for high-quality carbon removal credits by developing and executing strategy for global market forming policies and mechanisms Actively seek out broader ExxonMobil opportunities to position carbon removal credit generation opportunities globally and build a business case for action Represent ExxonMobil and LCS externally to engage stakeholders Ensure proper and approved communication and advocacy on ExxonMobil positions, with clear stakeholder alignment Partner with and provide guidance to regional affiliates and other business lines on specific business use cases and policy topics related to voluntary carbon credits Develop and manage enterprise relationships with carbon credit registries Lead direct engagement with registries on standards and methodology changes and enhancements, driving internal alignment with key SMEs Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather information and assess risks and opportunities Negotiate terms with registries on supplier agreements and manage compliance About You
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; Master’s/MBA a plus Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including 3+ years in carbon markets Climate-related certifications or credentials Strong understanding of the energy industry, decarbonization pathways, net zero standards, and global carbon market trends and competitive landscape Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work as part of a team and independently Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to articulate ideas clearly to internal and external stakeholders at all levels Ability to manage multiple deliverables, prioritize work to meet deadlines, and collaborate across the organization Self-motivated and proactive with effective process management skills and a commitment to excellence Flexible and able to thrive in ambiguous environments Benefits
