Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Center for Youth, Family, and Community Partnerships ( CYFCP ) builds the capacity of families, service providers, researchers, teachers, and communities to promote the well-being of children and youth. In partnership with colleagues from across the university and the community, the center carries out basic, applied, and action research; translates research into effective programs and practice; infuses community perspectives into university research and teaching; facilitates strategic problem-solving processes; and promotes programs, practices, and policies that yield positive outcomes for children and their families.
Position Summary
The Family Peer Implementation Coordinator will provide leadership and coordination for the implementation of Family Peer services with the selected provider agencies. The Family Peer Implementation Coordinator will provide formal and informal training and technical assistance opportunities around best practices for implementation of Family Peer Support. The Family Training Coordinator will work with their program team members to develop the trainings and certifications, in line with national certification and training standards (e.g., the National Federation of Families’ National Family Peer Specialist Certification). The Family Peer Implementation Coordinator will support Family Peer Specialist Implementation sites in recruiting, hiring, training, supporting, integrating, and evaluating Family Peer Specialists ( FPS ) to provide direct support to families across NC.
Minimum Qualifications
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
This position requires that the employee has relevant lived experiences related to personal and/or caregiving/family experience with a Serious Emotional Disturbance for at least 12 months.
This position requires that employees have experience working in some form of paid or unpaid Youth/Family Peer Specialist, Navigator, Partner, or other similar roles.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience with skills in the following areas: written and verbal communication skills, organization, and cross-agency collaboration and coordination.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications
Certified or eligible to be certified as a Certified Family Peer Specialist is preferred.
Candidates who have experience working in a leadership role related to Youth and/or Family Peer Support and/or Education are preferred.

Provide regular opportunities for Family Peer Specialists to engage in professional development activities including training, conferences, networking and learning collaboratives. Supports the development of parent/family support providers, including training and technical assistance. Coordinates and provides training and technical assistance to selected organizations in areas including, but not limited to, the following: Organizational development, Community 2. development, , Community development, Business practices, Services financing, Sustainability, Leadership development, and Recovery programming. Percentage Of Time Percentage Of Time 20% Key Responsibility Build Family Peer Workforce Identify and link families to NCVA training and Employment opportunities. Develop peer support networks across the state. Develop leadership and advocacy skills among families, and inform Families about Family Peer Support. Link families with lived experience to opportunities to become Nationally Certified as a Family Peer Support Specialist through training and employment. Percentage Of Time Percentage Of Time 10% Key Responsibility Program Outreach and Information Dissemination Develop and update content monthly and disseminate information via program website, electronic newsletters, integrating information from ongoing technical assistance and collaboration with key federal, state, and local partners (e.g., SAMHSA , NC DMH /DD/ SAS , System of Care Collaborative, etc.). Provide psychoeducation on the value of lived experience expertise at all levels of partnering agencies. Develop a plan for Community Awareness, Outreach, and highlighting of the Family Peer role at the local implementation site communities. Percentage Of Time Percentage Of Time 10% Key Responsibility Evaluation processes and other duties Collaborate with the evaluation team to ensure consistent and timely data collection. Conduct stakeholder interviews and focus groups. Collaborate with the evaluator to translate quantitative and qualitative data and to present findings to a variety of stakeholders.
