We are seeking a Legal Billing Specialist to join our client's team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and contribute to the growth and success of our Firm.
The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for supporting billing functions for assigned client accounts and/or practice groups. Core responsibilities include assisting with invoice generation, processing electronic billing through various platforms in compliance with client-specific guidelines, and helping ensure all e-billed invoices are successfully submitted and approved for payment.
Key Responsibilities include:
Process client bills via Aderant software
Submit assigned client invoices as required by client-driven outside counsel guidelines and/or engagement letters. Process invoices through Bill-Blast and, if necessary, upload LEDES files on e-billing vendor sites
Research and answer questions pertaining to assigned client accounts and/or practice group assignments
Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests
Handle and process moderate to complex bills with support from senior staff as needed
Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required
Support electronic billing processes for assigned clients, from finalized invoice through successful approval for payment, including processing appeals on short-paid invoices under supervision
Prepare ad hoc reports for attorneys as needed
Collaborate with Billing Supervisor, attorneys, and client contacts on transitions from paper billing to electronic billing
Build rapport with billing attorneys as well as client contacts to establish and maintain solid client relationships
Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in billing or e-billing, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
Strong technical skills. Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in order to meet critical deadlines
Position requires the ability to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
Flexibility for overtime is required
Strong attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with ability to successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
Ability to multi-task, organize workflow, and use time efficiently
Strong analytical skills
Eagerness to learn and develop expertise in legal billing processes
General understanding of a revenue cycle helpful, including basic knowledge of accounts payable and related processes
Must be proactive in identifying issues and asking questions
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience with Aderant, Elite, eBillingHub, or BillBlast software preferred
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred, but may be substituted for relevant legal or billing work experience
