Overview
The Student Government Association at the University of Southern Maine is seeking an Accounting Support Specialist to assist its business office, as well as student clubs and organizations.
The Student Government Association (SGA) is the official student governance body at USM. Its main responsibilities are to help facilitate student/faculty relations, to ensure that student concerns and needs are resolved and to oversee student clubs and other activities. The SGA ensures that students have a voice in what goes on around campus.
Responsibilities The Accounting Support Specialist will be responsible for monetary transactions funded by the USM Student Government Association. Responsibilities include administrative work relating to accounts receivable such auditing, checking balances and accounts, and preparing reports. In addition, this position will perform work such as processing, distributing, and maintaining invoices, setting up and maintaining financial records, and processing financial forms.
Compensation and Schedule The starting rate of pay will be $19.61 per hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System. This position is part-time, working 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
This position provides a terrific opportunity to pursue a bachelor’s or advanced degree through the university’s generous tuition waiver benefit (based upon part-time status).
