Job Summary
Our client, a major bank in New York City, is looking for a
Business Analyst with Equity Derivatives / Commodities lines of business . This is a hybrid role with a 2/3 days per week in the NYC office. This is a 6-12 month contract with possible extensions or option to hire. Rate: $90-97/hour on W2 DOE, possible C2C as well.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day trade support for the Equity Derivatives/Commodities trading desk, closely interacting with traders executing and risk-managing complex derivative products.
Troubleshooting support issues and providing proactive support in the resolution of problems for the trading desk, including communications to the desk regarding platform issues and resolutions.
Ensure accurate trade capture, event processing, representation of positions, P&L and risk exposures in risk management systems.
Liaise with global Tech and Ops counterparts on strategic initiatives, representing the business with expertise across products & systems, testing new technology rollouts, and driving enhancements to existing systems and processes.
Perform reconciliation processes across systems to support system upgrades and maintain connectivity for smooth trading desk activities.
Learn and adapt quickly to fast-changing desk operations (e.g., new product implementations).
Prepare technical documentation of system requirements/solutions and maintain a support run book for production issues.
Required Qualifications
Academic background in a STEM discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering).
Analytical background with understanding of applied math, probability, and statistics.
2-4+ years of experience developing solutions for Equity Derivatives/Commodities (futures, total return swaps, vanilla and exotic options, equity swaps, etc.). Experience with risk management systems to identify and resolve booking errors and tech issues related to trade bookings and front-to-back flows.
Understanding of market data conventions and ability to interpret market data provider specifications.
Ability to multitask multiple ongoing issues, assess priority, and make quick, effective decisions.
Experience on a trading floor supporting mission-critical applications.
Experience with job scheduling applications.
Effective communication skills (verbal and written) to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Fundamental understanding of database modeling and ETL applications.
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building capabilities.
Self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong analytical skills to understand cross-asset products and end-to-end workflows; oriented toward process improvement, system enhancement, and automation.
Unix/Linux knowledge.
Advanced Excel skills (preferred).
Knowledge of JIRA for issue and project tracking.
Nice-to-have Qualifications
College degree.
Murex/Calypso or equivalent experience.
Database & SQL experience.
Targeted Systems
