Our client, a leading general contractor specializing in large-scale commercial projects, is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support financial operations and ensure accurate, timely project reporting. This position plays a key role in coordinating billing, cost tracking, and project closeout activities while maintaining strong relationships with project managers and subcontractors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and reconcile monthly owner billings in alignment with contract terms and project milestones.

Review contracts to identify billing requirements and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

Analyze and process job-related costs in accordance with internal control policies.

Partner with project managers to coordinate billing, track job costs, and identify unbilled or late-billed items.

Manage subcontractor payments and lien waivers, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Support job closeout, including final reconciliations, accruals, and profit/loss analysis.

Monitor project cash flow and assist with forecasting as needed.

Compile certified payroll reports and maintain subcontractor insurance compliance documentation.

Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies and improve reporting efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based industries.

Strong understanding of contract billing, job cost accounting, and WIP reporting.

Proficiency with ERP or construction management software (e.g., Viewpoint, CMiC, Sage, or similar).

Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team approach.

Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
