Job Description

Position Summary

This job is primarily responsible for ensuring completion of Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI), Private Product and Named Peril crop claims within assigned territory. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and training staff, developing and maintaining internal communications to ensure efficient claims service, and serving as the local expert to provide guidance on claims adjusting issues and questions/concerns.

Build and maintain professional relationships with the Regional Leadership team (Regional Vice President, Regional Claims Manager, Regional Operations Manager and Regional Marketing Manager) and other departments (Compliance, Underwriting, Accounting, Agents, etc.) to ensure open and effective communication between departments in order to process claims efficiently and correctly. To stay abreast of and understand growth and growth potential in assigned territory. Compile and provide information to the Regional Claim Manager to ensure their awareness of claims related developments which will be used by Management in various scenarios (e.g. budgetary decisions, staffing decisions, claims processing, etc.). Ensure efficient use of resources in the management of budget, e.g. track and analyzing number of claims worked by adjusters to ensure appropriate staffing levels. Track claim productivity data, including days from Assigned to Adjuster to First Contact with Insured, from Signed status to In Office status and Adjuster Notes usage, for use in performance management and various business decisions. Identify training gaps/needs for area claims staff and forward to RCM and Claims Training to ensure the established service levels are met or exceeded. Work with staff to ensure claims are being closed and paid within the established service level goal; ensuring issues are taken care of before exceeding service level goal. Provide guidance and serve as an informational resource for adjusters (e.g. routinely audit adjuster’s work to ensure consistency and accuracy, follow regulatory and company rules, policies and procedures). Oversee staffing and job development activities (hiring, training, employee performance management, task delegation, coaching, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, etc.); develop, communicate, and manage individual staff performance expectations that align with company goals. Exhibit qualities consistent with company philosophies, to ensure exemplary levels of service to all parties. Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education

Required – High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent training and work experience.

Experience

Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or agriculture.

Required – 5 Years’ Crop Insurance Claim Experience,

Preferred – 2+ years’ supervisory/management experience.

License/Certification

Required – Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record to meet company requirements.

Required – Licensing and CAPP certification in accordance with FCIC and State requirements.

Ability to travel, up to 60% (actual amount of time dependent upon region(s) supported).

Ability to complete documentation requirements. Ability to utilize analytical thinking; find facts and solve problems. Ability to remain self-motivated and efficient. Ability to work both in an office setting and outdoors in a farm environment. Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment. Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. Working knowledge of crop insurance regulations, policies, procedures and best practices. Works effectively under pressure and able to work within tight deadlines. Willingness to take initiative and work with minimal supervision. Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment.

Salary Range: $80,000-90,000

Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
