Summary This position is designated for entry level candidates/recent college graduates who are passionate about developing a career in consumer loan underwriting (mortgage, home equity loans/lines). This role offers exposure to the home loan lending industry and real estate with opportunities for growth. Training will be provided.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Make credit decisions on conventional mortgage and home equity loan applications.

Review income, asset, credit and appraisal documents.

Provide support to the senior underwriting staff by reviewing loan conditions regarding credit, income, and collateral risk.

Work within specified time frames to assist in closing loans in a timely manner.

Maintains the confidentiality of the information reviewed.

Maintains and improves personal knowledge and skills.

Ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines.

Analyzing risk and requesting additional documentation as necessary.

Staying up to date agency guidelines, products and recent regulatory changes.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Performs other duties as requested by manager

Provide exceptional servicing support to customers and loan officers

Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures

Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related field.

0-5 years relevant work experience or internship experience in finance, mortgage, accounting, banking or related field.

Self-motivated and proactive.

Detail-oriented and highly organized. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Ability to lead by example and participate as an effective member; conducts self as a professional.

Excellent customer service skills.

Technical/Functional Competencies

Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to work in a team environment to resolve problems

Proficient computer skills.
