Executive Recruiter (Accounting and Finance)
Company Overview: We are a privately held construction company with approximately $120 million in annual revenue. Position Summary: The Controller will serve as the financial leader of the organization, overseeing all accounting and financial operations to support the company’s continued growth. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with deep construction industry experience and the ability to partner with senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have 10–15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with a strong background in construction financial management, job costing, and project accounting. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the accounting department, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger functions. Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and industry standards. Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Manage job cost reporting, WIP schedules, and project profitability analysis. Implement and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures. Partner with project managers and operations teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making. Oversee bonding, insurance, banking relationships, and audits. Lead technology and process improvements within the accounting function, including ERP system optimization. Mentor and develop accounting staff, building a high-performing finance team. Provide strategic input to the executive leadership team regarding growth opportunities, risk management, and operational efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred). 10–15 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job cost, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion, and contract compliance. Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, CMiC, or similar). Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership and operational teams. Competitive salary commensurate with experience. 170-185K Performance-based bonus opportunities.
