The Senior Grants Accountant will apply principles of accounting to perform general grants administration and related accounting duties, analyze financial information, prepare financial reports, and assist the Executive Director of Grants and Strategic Advancement by performing the following duties. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency. Five years’ experience in accounting. Strong understanding of the financial and managerial accounting concepts and principles. Proficient in Excel, with working knowledge of other computer applications. Preferred Qualifications: Five years’ experience in grants accounting, preferably grants management. Three years’ experience in governmental accounting. CPA certification. Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provide support and training for internal grant project directors/principal investigators. Possess an understanding of Federal Uniform Compliance rules and regulations and guiding principles of all active funding agencies. Assist Executive Director of Grants and Strategic Advancement in preparing for and facilitating grant kick off and close out meetings with program directors/principal investigators. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting transactions, and time and effort reporting. Assume responsibility for monthly reconciliations, analysis, and review of general ledger accounts, including monthly reports, and closeout of various funds. Assist in development and maintenance of grant budgets, budget revisions, and required budget reports. Audit various financial transactions, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement, insuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Assist in establishing, modifying, documenting, and coordinating implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Assist in all close-out procedures for year-end reporting and auditing. Act as back-up for other functions as needed. Reconcile and balance accounts. Maintain and update files for year-end audit. The employee may need to lift and/or move equipment, tools, or paperwork up to 25 pounds. The employee may need to position themselves by reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching in order to adjust or collect equipment and/or supplies. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
