Overview The Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life provides vision and leadership for all aspects of fraternity and sorority life at the University. They develop programs and initiatives and work with internal and external partners to enhance the quality of the fraternity and sorority experience. The role includes long- and short-range goal setting, program planning, marketing, expansion, and assessment for Greek Councils under advisement.

Responsibilities

Advise national sororities and fraternities in risk management, relationships with national headquarters, local alumni chapters, and other activities with fraternities and sororities on and off campus, including housed chapters.

Support and advise one or more Greek councils (Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Association); focus on advising the Interfraternity Council.

Advise students on program development, policies and processes, risk management, and leadership.

Develop programs, initiatives, and policies; research and analyze data to inform policy recommendations.

Collaborate with Fraternity and Sorority alumni, chapter advisors, community groups, and individual fraternities and sororities.

Work with Student Engagement staff toward unification with relevant Greek councils and associations.

Advise student leaders on program development, risk management, leadership development, and organization management using a holistic approach to student development.

Participate in evening, weekend, and on-call commitments as required.

Programming & Data

Develop and assess departmental programming efforts; allocate resources to enhance students socially and academically.

Facilitate faculty and alumni advisor development for Greek-letter organizations and groups on advising and student development theories.

Develop research data analysis on trends in Fraternity and Sorority Life and programmatic initiatives.

Administrative & Other Duties

Represent the Department of Student Engagement on university committees.

On-call duties to respond to emergency situations involving fraternities and sororities to support student welfare and safety.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience

A Master’s degree and 1 year of experience; or Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of fraternity and sorority umbrella organizations and student development theory.

License or Certification None

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Minimum of one year experience in Student Affairs, including work in a Fraternity and Sorority Life Department or national headquarters.

Experience advising or volunteering with IFC.

Ability to apply theory in practice in a university setting.

Membership in a fraternity or sorority.
