This is a remote position. Energy Storage Technical Manager - Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineering Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA) OR Houston, TX (HYBRID)
This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development and execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, having accumulated over 9GW+ of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.
The Transmission, Interconnection, and Market Operations Teams are at the crux of the organization, supporting Project Development, EPC, and Origination efforts for an organization taking on next-generation challenges in the battery storage space. This is a fast-paced work culture built for growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Support transmission planning interconnection studies to support operational and development portfolio needs. Facilitate power flow, stability, and dynamic analysis utilizing PSS/E, TARA, PSCAD, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld. Be heavily involved in renewable energy/battery storage interconnection application models. Develop, support, and build tools in Python, SQL, and/or MS Excel that automate the study process of analyzing output data flows from the model. Support renewable interconnection stakeholders (utilities, RTOs, ISOs, etc.) and project management. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering. Technical Leader with hands-on power flow modeling and interconnection studies experience (PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN, MUST, TARA, and/or PowerWorld). Strong background leading transmission and interconnection initiatives in TARA. Exposure to economic transmission market planning and analysis - PROMOD, GridView, UPlan, or Plexos is a PLUS. Understanding of the transmission interconnection application process. Understanding of electricity market policy and rules with respect to interconnection and transmission planning. Experience working with ISOs (Independent System Operator) and/or RTOs (Regional Transmission Organization). Working knowledge of Utility-scale renewable energy operations (Wind, Solar, Energy Storage, Battery Storage). Solution-driven “get it done” attitude, strong communication, and presentation skills.
