TEKsystems is seeking a Network Administrator in Anchorage, AK for a direct placement opportunity. Candidates MUST reside in Anchorage, AK and have reliable transportation. This is an onsite position 5 days per week. This is a direct placement opportunity and candidates must be authorized to work in the US for any employer.

Overview We are seeking an experienced PBX Voice Technician to play a key role in the programming, installation, and maintenance of premise-based phone systems. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise in telephony alongside strong skills in server virtualization, networking, routing, and security appliances. This position provides critical support to ensure reliable and secure voice communications for our organization.

Experience

3+ years of hands-on experience with PBX voice systems

2+ years supporting server virtualization and networking environments utilizing VMWare

Experience with security appliances and voice network security preferred

Key Responsibilities

Program, install, configure, and maintain premise-based PBX/VoIP phone systems for business environments

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to voice systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance

Manage on-site and remote deployments and upgrades of telephony hardware and software

Integrate phone systems with data networks, collaborating with IT teams as needed

Perform server virtualization tasks related to voice infrastructure (setup, management, and troubleshooting of virtual PBX servers)

Configure and troubleshoot networking components (VLANs, QoS, DHCP, DNS) and routing protocols relevant to voice networks

Install, configure, and manage security appliances (firewalls, session border controllers, intrusion prevention systems) to protect voice and data traffic

Maintain system documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and support records

Stay current with industry best practices and vendor updates for PBX and security technologies

Provide technical support and end-user training as necessary

Required Skills and Qualifications

Proven experience programming and maintaining premise-based PBX and/or VoIP systems (such as Avaya, Mitel, Cisco, NEC, etc.)

In-depth knowledge of server virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)

Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, QoS)

Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls

Familiarity with security appliances and best practices for voice network security

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, VMware VCP, or similar) are a plus

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
