We are seeking an experienced
Fiber Technician
to join our team for full-time project and service assignments. This role involves leading structured cabling installations, managing small crews, and ensuring the successful execution of commercial low-voltage projects. Travel within a 46 hour radius of your home base may be required. Ideal candidates are reliable, experienced, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities
Lead structured cabling installations and assign tasks to team members Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling systems Install cable pathways including J-hooks, trays, and conduit Perform troubleshooting, testing, and certification using Fluke or equivalent testers Interpret and work from blueprints, floor plans, and wiring schematics Maintain job site safety, ensure clean cable management, and follow building codes Coordinate material deliveries, assess site readiness, and communicate with clients as needed Complete project documentation such as as-builts, test results, and daily logs Travel to job sites as needed (company or personal vehicle; mileage reimbursed) Support related tasks involving CCTV, access control, or infrastructure when necessary Requirements
Minimum 3 years of structured cabling experience in commercial or industrial settings Ability to lead and mentor junior technicians and manage small on-site crews Skilled in pulling, dressing, terminating, and testing low-voltage cables Experience with copper (Cat5e/Cat6), fiber optic (single/multimode), and coaxial systems Proficient with cable testers, labeling tools, and standard hand tools Familiar with firestopping, core drilling, and conduit installation (EMT, flex) Comfortable working from heights, on ladders/lifts, and in confined spaces Possess basic PPE and hand tools; OSHA 10 certification preferred Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and contractors Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Preferred (Not Required)
Experience with CCTV, access control, paging, or AV systems Knowledge of BICSI standards and industry best practices Certifications such as BICSI Installer, OSHA 30, or manufacturer-specific credentials Compensation & Benefits
