Fiber Optics Field Technician I , you’ll play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic networks that power homes, businesses, and industries. This role keeps you in the field, working with cutting-edge technology to ensure seamless communication networks. You will install fiber lines, troubleshoot network issues, and work at heights and in confined spaces—developing valuable technical expertise. You’ll be part of a team-oriented environment, collaborating with skilled professionals who prioritize safety, efficiency, and quality. Whether you are new to fiber optics or bring years of experience, we provide opportunities for growth through hands-on training in fiber splicing, testing, and network troubleshooting. What You'll Do

Qualify to work safely in energized spaces and from an elevated position in the bucket truck Assist when needed to remove old hardware from poles and install new Provide roadway flagging support for the operation, including obtaining Flagger Certification Assist with stripping, cleaving, terminating, and testing cable Become familiar with fiber optic equipment such as splicers, OTDR, traffic identifiers, light-source power-meter, fiber-specific hand tools, etc. Learn proper methods and procedures for terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables

Working Conditions

Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel Climb poles; carry, set-up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, and work on ladders and utility poles at heights up to 60 feet Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions Able to walk long distances Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance

What You'll Bring

No prior experience necessary Valid Driver’s License is required Experience operating ladders, bucket truck, cable puller, and reel stands preferred Ability to identify independent colors and learn color codes General construction and/or flagging experience preferred Ability to obtain and maintain MSHA Certification Must be comfortable working at elevated heights and in confined spaces Ability to inspect, operate, and mobilize a bucket truck preferred
