Overview

Full-time High Level Disinfection Technician position at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. Under the direction of the HLD Operations Supervisor and Lead HLD Technician, the High-Level Disinfection (HLD) Technician I performs entry‑level High-Level Disinfection functions and works with preceptors to develop the skills needed to independently perform all primary duties. Primary responsibilities include receiving instrumentation, sorting, inspecting, decontamination of procedural instrumentation, identifying the reprocessing method, selecting accessories, and accurately documenting all processes. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Decontamination & High-Level Disinfection: Don and doff PPE as required, communicate supply needs, perform routine tests on mechanical equipment, receive soiled or new equipment from procedural clinics, decontaminate per policies, disassemble equipment as needed, identify repair needs and relay to supervisor, place test strips, use appropriate cleaning equipment, and clean and disinfect workstation. (Other tasks as assigned by the HLD Supervisor or Lead HLD Technician.) Prep & Pack, Sterilization, & Storage: Document tasks via instrument tracking system, inspect and assemble equipment and scopes for functionality and cleanliness, transport items to drying cabinets, maintain a clean workstation, and follow reprocessing methods per MIFUs. Load sterilizers, perform routine sterilizer testing, monitor temperatures for sterile storage, and perform related tasks as assigned. Auxiliary Tasks & Responsibilities: Assist in Sterile Processing functions as directed, including decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, transport, and case-pick. Organizational Requirements: Maintain confidentiality, uphold guiding principles and mission, participate in quality improvement activities and mandatory education, and perform other duties as needed to support the department. Qualifications

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent. Licensure, Certification, Registration:

None required at hire. Must acquire endoscope reprocessing certification with a national certifying body (CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA) within 12 months of hire date. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Attention to detail; good organizational skills; basic computer skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English. Must be able to be trained to meet organizational standards. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling required. Experience:
