All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.### The OpportunityThe Accountant II will be a member of Ally's Controller's Team reporting to the Mortgage Accounting Manager. The candidate in this role will be responsible for providing accurate, timely, and relevant financial information in support of Mortgage Accounting, Reporting and Operations. Key responsibilities include consolidating data to be reported in Ally’s quarterly and annual financial statements, supporting the month-end close process, and accounting-related activities in support of the mortgage loan portfolio. The candidate will also support other ad-hoc requests and participate in transformation efforts as we transition to the new Workday ERP.### The Work Itself* Assist with the month-end accounting close process (e.g., ensure timely completion of recurring/non-recurring journal entries, review applicable general ledger accounts, preparation of key reporting processes, etc.).* Ensure completeness and accuracy of account reconciliations and consistent/proper use of general ledger accounts.* Prepare select disclosures in support of external reporting processes.* Responsible for Real Estate Owned (REO) portfolio accounting.* Ensure SOX compliance over designated processes and controls.* Coordinate with other functional areas, such as Mortgage Servicing Operations, Forecast, Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Risk, etc.* Assist with Workday ERP transformation initiatives.* Special projects as assigned.### The Skills You Bring* Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting preferred; CPA (or equivalent) and /or MBA preferred.* 1+ year of previous work experience in Accounting or related field; Workday ERP experience preferred.* General accounting and/or functional skills for area of expertise.* Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation.* Must possess strong communication skills.* Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management.* Ability to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute moderately complex tasks.* Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) preferred.#LI-hybrid### How We'll Have Your BackAlly's compensation program offers market-competitive base pay and pay-for-performance incentives (bonuses) based on achieving personal and company goals.
