Location:** Central Office- Finance Hours:** 8.0 hours per day, 5 days a week, 12 months per year Salary:** Entry Range 18, Step 1: $23.90 per hour ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ACCOUNTANT
Position Summary:**
The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for processing accounts payable, verifying services and goods have proper management approval, maintaining appropriate records, recording transactions, and preparing checks.
Qualifications
Knowledge of accounting principles, expenditures, encumbrances, and budget documents.
Skill in ledger maintenance and adjustments.
Familiarity with current office technology such as computers on a network, word processing software applications, and e-mail systems.
Skill in use of financial accounting system software.
High school graduate or equivalent and prefer 1 year of experience in accounting.
Ability to work well with public, students, staff, and parents.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
Must possess a valid State of Alaska motor vehicle operators license with no insurance restrictions.
Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
Prepare check requests/check advice with proper coding and ensure backup is present, enter check request/check advice data into financial accounting system.
Scan invoices and file completed check requests/check advices to the proper electronic system.
Reconcile invoices/receipts for travel against approved travel requests, ensuring charges for approved days and amount. Obtain required management approval and backup.
Create new vendors and maintain the vendor maintenance within the financial accounting system.
Assist payroll accountant in various stages of payroll preparation and verification of completed payroll.
Trace discrepancies and prepare adjusting documents to correct errors.
Assist with or prepare financial and budget reports for various state and federal grants. Maintain proper files for audit.
Assist with preparation of schedules and financial statements for year-end audit.
Provide training on School District financial programs. Work with staff to ensure that internal procedures are followed.
Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
Other duties as assigned from time to time.
