Overview
The Unclaimed Property Senior Consultant ("Senior Consultant") works with a team to assist clients with unclaimed property services, including voluntary disclosures and audit defense. This includes researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations. The Senior Consultant is responsible for creating positive team member experiences, which lead to excellent client service and drive revenue and profit for the Firm. Create a positive team member experience. Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities. Assist manager and clients in managing state unclaimed property audits and voluntary disclosure program reviews. Develops and coordinates records requests and collaborates with clients to gather needed documentation. Review records requested by auditor and other necessary records to ensure suitability for disclosure to auditors. Review general ledger chart of accounts and trial balances to identify areas of potential unclaimed property liability (like A/R and A/P). Engage and facilitate client communication. Review and analyze client data files to identify unclaimed property liability and create schedules of potentially unclaimed items. Review and analyze remediation support to determine unclaimed property status of individual items. Work with manager to develop strategy for mitigating potential liability. Prepare workbook of potential liability by property type. Draft written reports detailing review and quantification methods. Research state unclaimed property statutes. Assist with review and revision of company’s existing unclaimed property policies and procedures. Draft and edit correspondence. Handle and safeguard confidential information. Desire to perform in a high-energy team environment. Demonstrated problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or another degree with MBA, MST, or JD. Two to four years unclaimed property consulting, state government auditing, or third-party auditing experience preferred. Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research. Certificates and Licenses
Valid driver’s license required. Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment
Standard indoor working environment. Occasional long periods of sitting or standing while working. Occasional long periods of standing while copying.
