Growing Nonprofit Organization is seeking a
Grant Accountant.
Under the general direction of the Director of Grants, the position is responsible for the accounting and reporting of a portfolio of grants representing specific service deliveries to targeted populations. Responsibilities: Analyze monthly expenditures for federal, state, and city grants, ensuring accurate reporting. Prepare budget-to-actual reports for government grants and contracts. Collaborate with program directors on annual budget modifications and ongoing financial planning. Prepare monthly closing entries and requests for reimbursement from funding sources. Maintain and analyze grant-funded program P&L statements, including variance analysis. Develop and track program budgets, including journal entries for personnel, fringe benefits, and OTPS expenditures. Manage grant closeouts and related adjusting entries. Maintain budget information within the general ledger and prepare periodic spending projections. Support audit and desk review processes, including preparing schedules and documentation for city, state, and federal grants. Complete other finance-related projects as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum 4 years of experience in grants or general accounting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general ledger accounting software. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in not-for-profit organizations. Familiarity with NYC contracts (Department of Homeless Services, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Human Resources Administration) and using HHS Accelerator and NYC Payee Information Portal. Experience with New York State contracts via Grants Gateway and preparation of the New York State Consolidated Fiscal Report. Knowledge of and experience with Intacct accounting and financial management software. Compensation:
