Overview
Senior Real-Time Graphics Specialist at Spectrum News. This role supports building After Effects and Premier Pro templates and real-time graphic systems by developing templates, creating workflows compatible with different newsroom configurations, and sharing knowledge with the team. Part of Charter Communications, Spectrum News operates more than 30 hyper-local news and regional sports networks. Support building real-time graphic templates and augmented reality graphics across multiple platforms. Create and troubleshoot real-time graphic templates; contribute to template workflows across newsroom configurations. Manage equipment to ensure optimal performance and share knowledge with the team. Collaborate with Art Directors and the technical creative team to integrate new graphics into insert packages, virtual sets, and AR systems. Demonstrate proficient technical skills across platforms while maintaining high production standards. Work with multiple teams to create innovative graphics and provide graphics support for studio show content. Troubleshoot system issues with Graphics Operators, Production Operations Management, and Engineering; support all graphics machines, software, plugins, and workflows. Participate in discussions related to data feeds and maintain workflows that impact graphic templates on all platforms. Lead cross-functional integrations from a graphic perspective; contribute to implementing templates created by graphics operators and the design department. Define graphics workflows for on-air; mentor and train other real-time graphic specialists on all platforms. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities And Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; strong communication skills to convey requests to editors, graphic and audio designers, talent, etc. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and operate in high-pressure environments; adapt to changing circumstances and solve complex problems. Flexibility with shifting priorities, demands, and timelines. Knowledge of template building in Chyron, VizRt, Zero Density, and After Effects; experience creating AR graphics via Unreal/VizRt/Zero Density. Knowledge of SQL, XML, and Microsoft Excel; data integration and television production equipment and studio procedures. Proficiency with Photoshop, After Effects, CAMIO, VitRt, Zero Density workflows; understanding of design and animation techniques across platforms. Experience with scripting (JavaScript, XML, JSON, XPRESSO) and advanced template building using expressions and scripts in After Effects. Team-oriented, collaborative approach; ability to train others on multiple technical platforms; fluency in on-air show packaging and insert graphic elements. Commitment to continuous self-development and increasing production value; willingness to explore new ideas. Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Related Work Experience And Number Of Years
5+ years of experience with graphics systems in news or sports; working experience in a control room to support various productions and knowledge of news, sports, and remote productions. Preferred Skills/Abilities And Knowledge
HTML5 knowledge is a plus. Extensive expression and template building experience in After Effects; familiarity with Dalet production workflow is a plus. Working Conditions
Office environment with potential on-site presence for equipment issues; may require working varied shifts, longer shifts, weekends, and holidays, with scheduling flexibility for breaking news or severe weather events. Travel up to 15% where applicable. Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this position is $66,990.00 to $117,240.00 per year. Actual compensation will consider skills, experience, and location. Spectrum is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
