Staff
Accountant
to assist with the financial operations of our dealership. This role supports the accounting department by managing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and performing reconciliations, while also contributing to inventory oversight and financial analysis. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a desire to grow within the dynamic marine industry. Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable/Receivable
Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions. Monitor aged accounts receivable and assist with follow-up on overdue payments. Prepare bank deposits and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
Inventory and Sales Records
Maintain accurate records of boat and parts inventories, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability tracking. Support the review of sales deals for accuracy and collaborate with sales staff to address discrepancies. Assist with tracking sales and purchase documentation for vehicles and related equipment.
Monthly Accounting and Reconciliations
Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations, including accruals and depreciation entries. Reconcile vendor accounts and ensure accurate coding of expenses requiring explanation. Assist with closing accounting periods and generating financial summaries. Prepare periodic comparisons of sales, expenses, and profits by department. Provide support for analytical reviews of monthly financial statements to identify deviations from budget and unusual trends.
Compliance and Taxation
Assist in ensuring compliance with municipal, state, and federal regulations, including sales and use tax laws.
Manage Online Retail Operations
Process online sales transactions and ensure seamless integration between Shopify and QuickBooks for financial tracking and reporting. Analyze online sales performance, generate reports, and recommend strategies to optimize e-commerce revenue.
Administrative Duties
Maintain organized financial records and files. Support audits and provide documentation as needed. Perform other related duties as requested by the accounting team or dealership leadership.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in accounting or finance is a plus. 2+ years of experience in an accounting or clerical role, preferably in a dealership or retail environment. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Lightspeed EVO) and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with inventory management processes and sales tax regulations.
