Annual Bonus Overview
We’re hiring a Senior Accountant to lead our general ledger and core financial operations. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring our financial records are complete, accurate, and compliant with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with monthly close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, while also guiding junior team members and improving processes across the accounting function. Responsibilities
Provide oversight and support to team members, including the Accounts Payable Specialist and Project Accountant Offer mentorship and training to foster team growth and collaboration Manage all aspects of monthly and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and entries are accurate Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger integrity across all accounts Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts with appropriate documentation Review and analyze financial performance, providing variance analysis and insights to leadership Prepare and refine financial statements, reports, and account schedules Conduct ongoing comparisons of actual performance vs. budget, identifying and explaining key variances Evaluate transactions for proper accounting treatment and ensure adherence to GAAP Participate in fixed asset tracking, including depreciation and amortization schedules Lead review of P&L and balance sheet activity for errors or misclassifications Maintain cash flow support schedules and contribute to short-term cash forecasting Partner with other departments to provide financial information and answer questions Take ownership of accounting tasks for special projects and cross-functional initiatives Support audit preparation by gathering documentation and coordinating responses Help assess internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement Assist with insurance audits and reconcile employee benefits records to ensure proper financial capture What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline Proven accounting experience within the construction industry; familiarity with WIP accounting is essential Experience supporting a business with $40M+ in revenue preferred Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general ledger functions Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with multiple financial systems; Sage experience is a plus Analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial data to various teams Organized, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities with minimal oversight Leadership ability and a proactive mindset to coach team members and improve processes Seniority level
