Overview
Personal Financial Counselor - Hill AFB, UT. This role provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, delivering the full breadth of personal financial counseling to service members and their families. Services include one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or other providers, briefings and presentations, and referrals outside the counseling session. The counselor works with installation leadership and Points of Contact (POCs) to ensure the program stays within scope and meets installation needs.
Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
Help service members establish spending plans for extended absences.
Develop and share informational financial materials for service members and families.
Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and events per DoDI 1322.34).
Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
Demonstrate competency with virtual counseling and other electronic modes of communication (web-based, secure online chat, video teleconference); virtual PFC support may be authorized only by the OSD FINRED Program office.
Assist with duty to warn situations per DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues from installations where assigned.
Participate in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as appropriate.
All other duties as assigned.
Other Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree required. May consider an associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
May consider a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
3+ years of financial counseling experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
If required by contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
Be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
