Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Aurora, Colorado. This role reports to and supports the Controller in managing the company's financial processes, ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficiency in accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience in financial management within the healthcare or home health industry, with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Accounting Operations: Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax laws; assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Audit Coordination: Coordinate with external auditors and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
Cash Management: Monitor cash flow and support treasury functions, including bank reconciliations and cash management.
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including payroll taxes, sales tax, and corporate tax filings. Work with external tax advisors to prepare and review tax returns. Assist in responding to tax audits and inquiries from regulatory authorities.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within the healthcare or home health industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, specifically NetSuite; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
