Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Accountant to support the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. The Nonprofit Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting to support organizational decision-making and donor transparency. Base pay range
$80,000.00/yr - $92,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate general ledger and accounting records in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards (FASB 958). Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense reimbursements. Manage fund accounting, ensuring proper tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and donations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for leadership, board of directors, and external stakeholders. Support annual budget preparation and monitor budget-to-actual performance throughout the year. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements, including IRS Form 990. Assist with annual financial audits and coordinate with external auditors. Maintain internal controls and recommend process improvements to safeguard assets and promote operational efficiency. Provide grant and donor reporting, ensuring funds are spent in accordance with restrictions and agreements. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting and grant reporting Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud, or similar) and Excel Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with program staff, leadership, and external partners Seniority level
