Overview

Patient Safety Risk Manager – OU Health Location:

Nicholson Tower Shift:

Full-Time (40 hours/week) M-F, 8a-5p, rotating on-call schedule

Department Patient Safety Department

Responsibilities

Implement best practices in patient safety and risk mitigation initiatives to drive a proactive approach and prevention of patient harm.

Manage timely completion of Root Cause Analysis for all patient safety harm events to identify causes of errors.

Recommend changes, policies, or programs to prevent future errors.

Ensure project/department milestones and goals are met within approved budgets.

Review and analyze RLDatix occurrence reports to identify clinical risk trends.

Facilitate RLD usage discussions and identify training opportunities for frontline staff.

Analyze occurrence data for frequency and severity of events; identify trends and coordinate actions with unit leadership.

Investigate, manage, and follow up on patient safety events reported through the organization’s event system; work with clinical leadership to gather facts, identify root causes, and track action plan completion.

General Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, risk/patient safety, compliance or regulatory field, etc. required.

Experience:

Two (2) years in healthcare, clinical, patient safety, regulatory, or risk management roles.

License/Certification:

Current RN license issued by the State of Oklahoma or transferable. Must obtain Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) within 12 months of hire, AND Six Sigma or LEAN or TeamSTEPPS certification.

Preferred:

Current RN License (OK State Board) or multistate Compact RN License (eNLC).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaboratively work with leadership and staff.

Knowledge of patient safety and risk management principles.

Proficiency with MS Office products.

Strong analytical, decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple high-priority deliverables.
