Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager (Controller profile) to lead and strengthen the financial operations of our geotechnical consulting and services company. This role is responsible for reliable financial reporting, robust compliance, and streamlined accounting processes, while also supporting the ongoing SAP implementation. Based in Acton, MA, this position offers the opportunity to build a strong finance function and make a visible impact within a dynamic, mid-sized subsidiary of a publicly listed group. Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and group reporting packages. Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis with actionable insights. Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements (local, state, federal). Implement, document, and maintain strong internal controls and efficient financial processes. Support cash flow and working capital monitoring. Act as key point of contact for external auditors, banks, tax advisors, and regulators. Assist in the ongoing SAP implementation, driving process improvements and ensuring data integrity. Collaborate with the Senior Finance Director and support cross-functional teams with reliable financial information. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or equivalent credential a plus). 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Background in professional services or project-based businesses (consulting, engineering, etc.) strongly preferred. Knowledge of project accounting and familiarity with FAR guidelines a plus. Strong experience with SAP (FI/CO) or similar ERP systems. Solid understanding of internal controls, compliance frameworks, and reporting standards. Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized with excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a lean, mid-sized organization. Benefits
