Overview
The Staff Accountant performs routine cost and staff accounting duties in accordance with established procedures and methods. Maintains accounting records, verifies data received, and prepares reports and records of accounting transactions. Assists in the month-end close process by preparing and posting journal entries, performing reconciliations, and compiling reports. Requires strong time management, analytical skills, attention to detail, problem solving, research abilities and solid communication abilities. Responsibilities
Prepares and assembles journal entries and thorough account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, and payroll. Assists in month-end and year-end close, while maintaining timely and accurate reporting. Compiles monthly financial statements for subsidiaries and commonly owned entities. Monitors unit cost variance. Implements cost standards for materials and labor. Prepares cost of goods sold and production reports. Monitors capital expenditure projects and fixed assets and reconciles to the general ledger. Administers and monitors corporate credit card program including individual accounts and employee expense reimbursements. Prepares monthly and quarterly required bank reporting. Completes ad hoc reporting and performs special projects upon request. Contributes to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP. Assists Accounts Payable with timely and detailed research of vendor inquiries and vendor statement resolution. Prepares required tax filings such as annual 1099 reports. Assists with the annual financial audit. Qualifications
