JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/ADC-T) plays a key role in the delivery of treatment services to the clients and is responsible for ensuring that all clients receive services as mandated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). In addition, the Lead LADC will assist the Program Manager in day-to-day tasks. They provide services to support the achievement of effective personal development working with clients individually and in group settings to identify and resolve issues including substance use, mental health, personal and/or emotional and family issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Lead Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/ ADC-T) is responsible for providing education, counseling, and treatment to a reduced caseload of clients within the Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient programs according to the requirements mandated by the MN Department of Human Services (DHS) and 245G. They are expected to deliver and properly document the provision of treatment services including the Initial Service Plan, Comprehensive Assessment, Individual Treatment Plan, Treatment Plan Reviews, Progress Notes, Summary at Termination of Services, Continuing Care Plan, and the overall maintenance of client records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Program Director and Program Manager, deliver services meeting licensure requirements and individual client needs.

Upon service initiation, ensure that each client has an initial service plan which addresses the client’s immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs.

Complete a comprehensive assessment and an assessment summary of the client's substance use problems utilizing the ASAM Six Dimensions prior to service initiation.

Generate an Individual Treatment Plan after the comprehensive assessment, which is subject to amendment until client services are terminated. The Individual Treatment Plan must include treatment goals, objectives and interventions used to address identified problems, resources to which the client is being referred, and client goals.

Accurate and timely documentation of client treatment notes, referencing the individual treatment plan for assigned caseload, to include assessment of substance use and mental health issues.

Provide individual and group counseling, client education and behavioral modification strategies to prevent inappropriate substance use, continued criminal behaviors, and/or health problems.

Facilitate and lead psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, addressing substance use disorders, criminogenic behaviors, and mental health issues as an integral part of the recovery process.

Participate in the weekly treatment team meetings to review and update client progress notes.

Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with client referral sources, probation, and social service agencies.

Assist Program Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating program policies and procedures to enhance treatment outcomes.

Participate in quality assurance initiatives to monitor and improve program effectiveness.

Support the team in implementing the RNR model to align treatment intensity with client risk levels and address individual needs effectively.

Monitor and evaluate the integration of RNR principles into client care plans, ensuring fidelity to the model.

Collaborate with leadership to continuously refine processes for assessing risk, targeting criminogenic needs, and matching interventions to client responsivity factors.

Collaborate with the Program Manager on scheduling to ensure adequate staff coverage and support.

Track and report on clinical key performance indicators (KPIs), including session attendance, client engagement, and treatment outcomes.

Manage counselor caseload assignments and workload distribution.

Perform weekly auditing of client charts to ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational, state, and federal standards.

Review group sheets weekly to verify session attendance, appropriate documentation of interventions, and alignment with treatment goals.

Documentation of team meetings to review cases, address challenges, and promote a culture of collaboration and accountability.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively, respectfully and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

Prepared screening for and working with clients with criminal justice involvement and mental health problems, through education, training, and experience.

Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively and in a timely manner.

Knowledge and understanding of implications of 245G.

In-depth knowledge of industry best practices.

Understanding of industry-specific policies, such as the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) regulations for health care.

Knowledge and understanding of all company processes as it pertains to the 12 Core Functions.

Competence in facilitating individual and group counseling including crisis intervention and educational lectures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

18 years of age.

Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or ADC-T.

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with alcohol and/or drug addicted individuals and/or substance abuse counseling.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience providing Outpatient Treatment and/or Intensive Outpatient services.

Must have or obtain 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems or training within 6 months of hire.

5 years of compliance with MN Statutes 604.20, 604.205 sexual exploitation.

Successfully complete MN Department of Human Services background study.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in related field.

Experience with Procentive.

Additional Licenses: LPC, LPCC, LICSW, LP.

CONTINUED EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain active LADC licensure status.

Attend all mandatory in-house training and staff meetings.
