The Diocese of Saint Petersburg seeks a faith-filled, mission-driven Camp Director to lead Our Lady of Good Counsel Camp, a year-round Catholic camp and retreat center located in Floral City, Florida. Rooted in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, Good Counsel Camp provides opportunities for faith, fellowship, and formation through summer camp, retreats, family programs, and partnerships with schools, parishes, and ministries across the Diocese. The Camp Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of camp ministry, including programming, staffing, facilities, finances, donor relations, and Catholic identity. This leader will live and model the mission of the Church while ensuring a safe, welcoming, and vibrant camp environment where youth and families can encounter Christ. Key Responsibilities

Uphold the mission and Catholic identity of Good Counsel Camp. Collaborate with the Camp Chaplain(s), Board of Directors, Alumni Association, and Diocesan offices. Serve as a representative of the Bishop and the Catholic Church in all camp activities. Program Development & Ministry

Plan, facilitate, and implement programs such as summer camp, retreats, family camps, and parish/school events. Mentor and supervise camp staff (counselors, caretaker, cook, musician). Foster an environment of prayer, faith formation, and sacramental life. Operations & Administration

Oversee facilities, technology, risk management, and safety protocols. Manage camp marketing, communications, and camper recruitment. Develop and administer the annual budget in collaboration with the Diocesan Finance Office. Ensure compliance with diocesan HR policies, Safe Environment standards, and legal requirements. Stewardship & Advancement

Partner with the Development and Planned Giving Offices to build donor relationships and secure financial support. Engage alumni and advisory councils in sustaining and growing the mission. Qualifications

Practicing Catholic in good standing, active in a parish faith community. Bachelor’s degree in Camp Recreation, Outdoor Education, Theology, Youth Ministry, Business Management, or related field. Demonstrated professional experience in summer camps, Catholic youth ministry, or adolescent catechesis. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge of child safety practices, emergency response, and risk management. Physical ability to participate in and oversee outdoor camp activities. Proficiency in office software and registration/communication systems. Successful completion of Level II background check and Safe Environment Training. Working Conditions

Regular weekly office hours on-site at camp (Floral City, FL). Required residence at camp during summer programs (June–July). Local travel within the Diocese; occasional evening and weekend work. Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions (heat, humidity, uneven terrain). Why Join Us?
