MUSIC – Instructor of Applied Clarinet – Position Overview

Oakland University, School of Music, Theatre and Dance, invites applicants for a part-time Instructor of Music – Applied Clarinet position to join our instrumental faculty, beginning August 15, 2024. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate applied clarinet lessons, leading studio classes, and teaching performance-based repertoire and pedagogy courses. Other opportunities based on candidate’s qualifications may include: performing with the resident Oakland Symphony Orchestra, coaching small chamber ensembles, and other possible teaching duties as assigned. The posting is to create a pool of interested applicants for sections that may become open during the 2024-2025 academic year. Pre-employment screening includes verification of academic credentials and background check. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in clarinet performance or related field, and experience as a teacher and performer at the university level. Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate applied clarinet lessons. Lead studio classes and related pedagogy courses. Engage in performance-based repertoire and pedagogy instruction. Pursue growth and success in performance career while maintaining commitment to teaching, recruiting/retention, and service to the field. Participate in additional duties as assigned, including potential collaborations with ensembles or organizations. Application Instructions
