Overview
Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice (non-tenure track) with expertise in advanced manufacturing. The position supports growth in advanced manufacturing and the VT MADE center for advanced manufacturing. The appointment is effective August 2026. Responsibilities
Coordinate advanced manufacturing activities within the VT MADE center and lead an experiential learning and research space in Mitchell Hall (currently under construction). Train and assist graduate students with equipment operation; mentor undergraduate student teams; contribute to industry training workshops; support research efforts; and provide classroom instruction as needed. Qualifications
Required: graduate degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. Proven experience in experimental advanced manufacturing; strong record of academic and professional accomplishments; ability to work collaboratively; experience leading interdisciplinary research in academia or industry. Strong professional experience with industrial partners in advanced manufacturing; commitment to mentoring and advising student-led research; ability to be an effective instructor in both laboratory-focused group projects and classroom settings; willingness to expand disciplinary boundaries while training the next generation of engineers. Preferred Qualifications
A PhD degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field is preferred. Details
