Overview

Quality Assurance & Food Safety Specialist – Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA. Salary Range: $56,000 – $79,000 (based on experience and qualifications). Join a Japanese Food Trading Company with a strong reputation for delivering safe, high-quality products to customers across the U.S. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring product safety and compliance, maintaining food safety programs, and supporting continuous improvement in quality assurance. Serve as a key contact for customers, providing essential documentation such as spec sheets, certificates, and guarantees. Develop, maintain, and improve food safety programs including HACCP, GMP, Food Defense, Recall, Allergen Control, and Supplier Verification. Verify product labeling and ingredients for regulatory compliance in the U.S. Conduct root cause analysis for non-conformities and implement corrective actions. Lead monthly internal audits and support third-party audits to ensure compliance. Investigate customer complaints, identify solutions, and respond promptly. Research and apply relevant State and Federal food safety regulations. Manage quality documentation, calibration records, and audit materials. Oversee pest control programs and sanitation compliance. Communicate with suppliers to obtain necessary documents and certifications. Accompany inspectors from regulatory agencies (USDA, local health departments, NOAA) during onsite inspections. Travel occasionally to other branches to support food safety initiatives. Support company events, inventory counts, and other activities as needed. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field (preferred). 3+ years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or related areas (preferred). Business-level English required; Japanese language ability a plus (especially for verifying product labels). Strong knowledge of food safety procedures (HACCP, FSMA, GFSI). Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Japanese food and beverages is highly valued. Why You’ll Love Working Here
