Job Summary
The 7(a) Closing Officer is responsible for managing the closing process for Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) small loans from initial file transfer through funding. This role ensures compliance with SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), lender credit policies, and all regulatory requirements. The 7(a) Closing Officer works closely with borrowers, lenders, attorneys, brokers, title and escrow contacts, and internal teams to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient loan closings while providing excellent customer service and supporting TMC Financing’s operational standards. Responsibilities
Loan Closing & Documentation
Manage the complete closing process for SBA 7(a) loans, ensuring all files meet SBA and lender requirements before closing and funding. Prepare and maintain Closing Checklists and other necessary SBA forms and clearances. Confirm satisfaction of approved credit conditions and proactively resolve issues that may delay closing or funding. Review and approve all required documentation, including purchase agreements, corporate documents, lease agreements, landlord subordinations, titles, etc, as required for the loan. Manage disbursement of loan proceeds in accordance with SBA Terms and Conditions and SBA Loan Policy. Communication & Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact between borrowers, internal team members, management, outside counsel, and others as appropriate to deliver quality results and meet predetermined deadlines. Communicate clearly and regularly to resolve documentation issues, clarify SBA requirements, and ensure all parties remain aligned throughout the process. Compliance & Quality Assurance
Demonstrate and maintain in-depth knowledge of SBA SOPs, focusing on 7(a) loan program guidelines and requirements. Ensure all loan closings and disbursements conform to SBA and lender policies, including proper documentation, equity verification, and draw processes. Systems & Process Management
Maintain accurate records and upload required documents into TMC’s internal systems, including Salesforce, Ventures, CAFS, BOX, and CIRRUS. Keep checklists and internal files up to date, ensuring data accuracy across all platforms. Track and manage loan status updates and closing and funding schedules. Customer Experience & Problem-Solving
Provide exceptional customer service by educating borrowers and partners on SBA 7(a) requirements and addressing concerns promptly. Serve as a subject matter expert on SBA policies and closing procedures, assisting internal teams and lending partners as needed. Work closely with management to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency. Training & Professional Development
Attend training sessions regularly to stay current on updates to SBA SOPs, lender policies, and internal processes. Share knowledge and assist in training junior team members as needed. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required: 3+ years of experience in SBA 7(a) loan closings. Experience with construction-related documentation and third-party vendor coordination is a plus. In-depth knowledge of SBA 7(a) loan closing procedures and regulatory requirements. Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple loans simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, with demonstrated customer service excellence. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and working knowledge of CRM systems; Salesforce experience is a plus. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Starting at $40 plus incentive and bonus.
