Overview
HDR is seeking a Bridge EIT/Designer to join our Transportation Business Group in North Carolina. This position may be based out of our Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC office.
In this role, we'll count on you to:
Responsibilities
Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations, and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects
Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software
Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
Develop structural details using basic structural design and analysis software
Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain. Candidates hired without their EIT certification will have the title of Bridge Designer and will be expected to obtain their EIT certification for career progression.
Experience in bridge/structural design
MS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD, LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design experience
Knowledge of Bentley OpenBridge Designer
Knowledge of and some familiarity with engineering software packages such as: MDX and SAP2000
Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge
Bently OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3D
Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design
Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
