: Senior SQL Developer – Capital Markets Domain

Work Location

: Remote (Must work EST business hours)

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Developer with a strong background in designing, developing, and optimizing complex database-driven applications within the financial services or capital markets environment. The ideal candidate will be skilled in MS SQL Server, have experience with enterprise-scale systems, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that supports critical trading, risk, and data platforms. Exposure to Business Process Management (BPM) tools such as Metastorm is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server databases, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.

Work closely with business analysts, data analysts, and application developers to understand and translate business requirements into efficient database solutions.

Optimize database performance, troubleshoot slow queries, and perform tuning on high-volume transaction systems.

Build and maintain ETL processes to integrate data across trading, risk, compliance, and reference data systems.

Support data migration, cleansing, and transformation activities as part of ongoing platform enhancements.

Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams for deployment, version control, and database automation.

Participate in agile development processes and support production releases and issue resolution.

(Preferred) Contribute to business workflow automation and process improvement initiatives leveraging BPM tools such as Metastorm, Pega, or Appian.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of hands-on experience in MS SQL Server development, including complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and performance optimization.

Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and data modeling concepts.

Experience with complex enterprise applications—ideally in capital markets, investment banking, asset management, or financial data systems.

Knowledge of ETL tools (SSIS, Informatica, or equivalent).

Proficiency in troubleshooting, debugging, and query optimization in high-volume transactional environments.

Solid understanding of data architecture, reference data, trade data, or risk data flows in financial services.

Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket) and agile delivery environments.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
