Responsibilities
Partner with instructional, operational, regional and HO teams to develop reports and address data needs to provide reporting solutions Facilitate collaboration and communication with internal stakeholders to understand data needs, clarify requirements, and navigate and resolve competing priorities Synthesize and translate instructional and business data needs into creative visualizations and tools Develop, maintain and manage advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards and other BI solutions primarily in Tableau, with other reporting tools like PowerBI Perform and document data analysis, data validation, data mapping/design, accessing multiple sources, including data residing in source systems Standardize data collection by developing methods for database design and validation reports Provide application analysis and data modeling design to collect data for a centralized data warehouse Extract data from databases and data warehouses for reporting and to facilitate sharing between multiple data systems Management
This position directly manages up to 2 FTE Oversight: Guide and review team member work product (e.g., reporting, analytics, dashboards, and other BI solutions) Professional Development: Support team members' individual growth within Uncommon and the K-12 Data and technology space Contribute to problem-solving for the team by identifying trends and pain points with BI implementations and contributing to ongoing product and process improvements Train team members in BI and IT best practices Align/standardize team members on BI best practices (especially using Tableau server) Qualifications
Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree required (Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent subject preferred) Experience Requirements 5-6 years of professional experience 3-4+ years of managing 2 direct reports 5-6+ years of IT or Data experience 5-6+ years of experience in the BI field and expertise in data-driven dashboard/analytics design, development and implementation Coding in R, Python, and SQL Experience with Tableau, Superset, or similar visualization software Experience with DBT or similar data modeling platform Previous experience in K-12 public education preferred Understanding of SQL, relational databases & normalization Advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables) Expertise in developing, maintaining, and managing dashboards and analytics; working knowledge of Tableau server administration/architecture; proficient in query and reporting analysis tools Storytelling with creative data visualizations; understanding of data warehouse concepts and SQL for complex queries Product Management and Production Control experience Experience mentoring/training junior developers and Power BI users; ability to create and maintain support documents for diverse user groups Travel & Schedule
3 days in person at the central office located downtown Manhattan Local travel to school sites and other offices in NY, NJ, and MA Compensation & Benefits
Compensation for this role is between $120,700 to $142,000. Starting pay is determined based on factors including relevant experience, education, certifications, and tenure.
